One of the hallmarks of
a Polk Log Home is the "D" log.
This cut keeps the original shape
of the log on the outside,
and creates the smooth wall
on the interior.
Due to the R-Factor, there
is no need for insulation.
The "D" log form is best demonstrated
at initial construction.
The exterior is the rugged log,
the interior is the finished, smooth wall.
The "D" logs are cut 8 feet long and 7 inches thick.
As the logs are laid down, "Sill Seal" is
laid down between each log.
Then the log is spiked down.
All interior doors and cabinets are custom
built to match the pine interior.
The interior is treated with maintenance free
"Poly Interior Finish"
The exterior needs to be treated with
"Exterior Stain" once every 7 to 10 years.
The rest of this page is to show
the smooth transition of the "D" log
as you go from the outside to the inside.
